This week for innovation day we started discussing the color we would paint the window borders. We tried dark gray but we didn't really like the result. We took a step back and saw that we didn't really like the black color of the house. We plan on reprinting it to a dark grey and the Windows would be light grey. We plan on painting the house next time.

Throughout this art class my skills in pastels, watercolor, and acrylic improved this semester. In Middle School I had used these before but never learned the best way to use them. This semester I played around with these materials before I started an art piece that required them. I also learned to cut glass. Before this art class, I had just cut glass once but never gained skill in it, but this year I cut lots of glass for a project. I think my skills in all the materials mentioned above could have improved even more if I stayed focus on just one for a longer period of time. I just did one art piece with each material, but I feel if I had done a few more I could have improved my skills
This movie was my childhood favorite. I love this movie so much and always cried so I'm like why not. I drew the main character named Spirit.
I started by drawing him in pencil but I originally had planned that I was going to color him. After almost having him done I decided to just shade it in with the same pencil. I learned how to shade and I think it went pretty well. I wanted to draw elephants so I looked at some images of art on Google. I found an image I liked and got inspiration through it.
I used acrylic paint and started by painting the background of red and black then started the elephant. I got a better experience at using acrylic paint and I learned how to add texture. I started looking at watercolor paintings because I wanted to do watercolor and I saw different plants and trees. I wanted to do something with color so picked pink and went along with painting a tree.
I started with the tree bark and added a bunch of dots for the leaves using a paintbrush but towards the end I got my hands on dotting tools. Lastly I painted the shadow at the bottom. I learned how to use watercolor much better than how I used them in middle school and to blend colors to the way I wanted them. 1. I was going through some watercolor painting and saw a flamingo. I then decided to draw an animal but I didn't know which to pick but I remembered my red-headed Mexican parrot at home so I drew a bird similar to him.
2. I started by drawing the outline of the bird and the biggest features with pencil. Then I started coloring in with pastels. I decided to just focus on one area so first I colored in the beak. 3. At first I was putting colors over colors to blend but I saw that it was easier to blend with your fingers. I would slowly tap and lightly rub on the colors instead if overlapping. |
